The wine is bright with greenish lights and the colour of new straw. Delicate florals are followed by hints of brulee, opening out into zesty citrus, apples and ripe peach followed by nuances of freshly chopped walnuts and chalky talc. It has an assertive entry with a mid-palate structure dominated by layers of rich fruit: a spread of zesty citrus and ripe apple flavours with an obvious minerality. It finishes with impressions of rich pink grapefruit and crushed nuts verging on spice. The '06 vintage is clearly expressed in this as it is in our other varietals, but the Dry River style is as evident as always. We expect it to be drinking well from about 3 or 4 years if cellared under good conditions. |
