2002

2001

These vines are now up to 21 years old and of an age Europeans would normally accept as ‘out of adolescence' and capable of producing wine exhibiting the potential of the site. As usual, cropping was very low (22HL/ha or 1.2T/acre) resulting in enhanced richness and concentration of the final wine.

The wine is lightly golden with green tints, and has a nose of peach blossom, rose petals, ripe peaches and undertones of cloves, cinnamon and nuts. It has an elegant, concentrated palate, a silky texture and tastes of flowers, pears, apricots - even nuts, with a hint of dark chocolate. We recommend drinking this wine in 2-5 years if cellared under good conditions. This variety tends to develop spiciness and mandarine peel flavours in the mid to back palate and may well continue improving beyond the 5 years but this has to be evaluated according to individual cellar conditions.
