1996

Vintage '95 followed what was mostly a very dry season which gave rise to balanced canopies, relatively small berries and ripe phenolics. The month of harvest (April/May) was characterised by an average - albeit attenuated - rainfall with humid conditions, and this was conducive to the production of fine botrytis wines. Careful vineyard management ensured the health of those varieties required to be harvested without the 'noble rot'. Overall, the vintage had the potential for quality wines, but their production was more than usually dependent on the excellence of the viticulture in the individual vineyards.
